2024 Year in Review
Hard to believe that it is I deed a new year. Last one went quick but I managed to get in a few more trips and make the most of my travel days.
In short there were 3 trips to Big Bend, a trip to Colorado and a long two week drive north to the Dakotas then through Montana, Wyoming and Yellowstone.
There was also a lot of local bike rides and fly fishing. If I am not out photographing, I am either biking along the river out out fly fishing it.
I stated 2024 with a local morning with the camera to see sunrise. I spent a week in Big Bend in February. A few big sunsets and the dark Texas night sky for Milky Way images.
A summer trip to Colorado saw some hiking, Mesa Verde National Park and catching trout. Even got to see a bear up close.
I spent the rest of the summer reading small local creeks and rivers with the fly rod. A fun thing to do on a hot summer morning. Even combined the bike riding with fly fishing a few times. A ride, exercise and some casting.
Autumn always gets me into travel mode and September saw me spend a week traveling north through the Great Plains to the Dakotas. Many consider it fly over country, but I really love the plains. Especially, since I can have them to myself. After a week in Badlands, the Black Hills and the Sand Hills of Nebraska, I went I to Wyoming to see Devils Tower, Bighorn Canyon and the Beartooth Highway.
Spent 5 nights between Yellowstone and the Tetons. Was my first trip to concentrate more on wildlife than landscape.
Over the two week trip I saw grizzly bear, black bear, wolf, coyote, fox, moose, elk, pronghorn, bighorn sheep and even a mountain lion. Quite a photo adventure.
October saw me back in Big Bend for more dark sky and Guadalupe Mountains for fall color.
November was spent in North Texas chasing the local fall color. December saw me back in Big Bend.
And here it is 2025........ Already have a few things planned and other ideas to pursue.
