2025 Year in Review
Alternate title- I didn't Blog in 2025......
Well it is January of 2026 and I might well review my 2025. It was a year of some travel, one big trip, a few things that got cut short and a lot of local activity.
I started out 2025 like every year, watching the sunrise. I ended the year with a trip to Big Bend. Big Bend has become a standard December trip for the past few years and I always like a chance to get to the desert. I had a couple of Big Bend trips planned in March and October that I had to cancel out and so I was glad to get there for a few days to end the year.
In the summer I spent a week in Yellowstone photographing wildlife and it was an epic week. Bears, wolves, coyotes, eagles, moose, elk, deer, etc. Over some 9 trips to Yellowstone, I had only seen one wolf and that 1,000 yards out. This year it was wolves on 5 different days, some as close as 100 yards or closer.
We even got to witness the Junction Butte pack take down a bison in the Lamar Valley!! It was way out there but I was able to even get a few pics of raw nature in action.
Saw bears on different days too getting one cross the road in front of us in the Tetons. All in all an amazing wildlife trip and one I need to do again.
I spent a lot of my year doing more local day trips with a lot of fly fishing. It is a good way to get outside, be in the water, relax, take a few pics and enjoy a morning. For me that usually means walking/wading small local creeks and rivers.
The autumn brought me to my big trip of the year, which was a return to Scotland. I first went in 2016 after saving up frequent flier miles to use, and finally was able to make it happen again. Spent 12 days exploring the Highlands and the last two to see historic Edinburgh.
Two amazing weeks, I got to see the aurora over a castle, some epic light and even tried fly fishing on the Isle of Skye.
The late autumn was spent on my bike chasing fall colors locally. Then I ended the year back in Big Bend.
Hello 2026, I wonder where I go this year.......
